The Atlanta University Financial Records are a part of the Atlanta University Presidential Records series. The charter establishing Atlanta University was approved October 16, 1867. Rufus Early Clement (b. 1900 d. 1967) was the sixth and longest-serving President of Atlanta University. He was elected in 1937 and held the position until his death in 1967. During his administration, the Atlanta School of Social Work, a self-supporting professional school affiliated with the University, and the Schools of Library Service, Education, and Business Administration were established.
